The colors of autumn exploded across New Mexico and Texas, inspiring me to grab a paintbrush and mix colors wildly to recreate God’s breathtaking palette.
We started in Albuquerque to watch our grandson perform at the International Western Music Association. I also enjoyed seeing my friend Stephanie West present her book at the New Mexico Book Co-op. Afterward, I took a stroll down Canyon Road in Santa Fe, soaking in the vibrant art shows.

From there, my husband, Cooper, and I stopped in Canyon, Texas, to repack our suitcases before heading to Stephenville. We visited Andy and Elizabeth Adams’ stunning new home and horse facility. Smiles were everywhere as we joined the first round of celebrations for my high school girlfriend (adults used to tell us we’d outgrow our love for horses!). The next day, she stepped onstage to deliver her acceptance speech for her nomination into the National Cowgirl Museum & Hall of Fame. With 1,300 fellow attendees, we beamed with pride at these remarkable women’s accomplishments—and the fabulous art on display in that beautiful facility.
I was warmly welcomed for a couple of nights by Melissa Davis, whose sister Sandy introduced me to my beloved (and ever-tolerant) husband. I stayed at the ranch where I’d last slept the night before our wedding.
My final major stop was in Houston for a visit with Dr. Stephen Kruitzer about my customized new hip replacement.
Thanksgiving was a joy, surrounded by friends and family.
Y’all come see me Friday night at Sunset in the Arts, and I’ll be there Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the Christmas Market! I’ve got fresh paintings created this month.
Life in the fast lane,
